Abstract
The dielectric constant, the refractive index, the reflectivity, and the absorption coefficient are calculated from the electronic energy bands in the photon energy range from 0.01 to 0.40 Ry for CsAu and 0.05 to 0.40 Ry for RbAu. Comparison of the present work with experimental results on the absorption coefficient for CsAu shows reasonable agreement. No other experimental results are available to make immediate comparison with. The results obtained in this work show that CsAu is very much a semiconductor, but RbAu is more like a metallic alloy with similar optical properties as pure gold in the visible region. Keywords
