Abstract
Summary The pain produced by rubber-band ligation of internal hemorrhoids has been used to test the efficacy of anesthetic-steroid-local antibiotic suppositories compared with inert suppositories. Nineteen patients had 57 ligations. When a comparison is made of the frequency, duration and severity of pain after ligation, no difference between patients treated with the active suppositories and those treated with the control suppositories could be shown. Keywords
