Abstract
The authors investigate sequence designs for synchronous code-division multiple-access (S/CDMA) fibre-optic systems. If P is a prime or a power of a prime, the results show that there are Pd+1 sequences of blocklength P2 and maximum cross-correlation d. A scheme to integrate services of multiple types with these sequences is presented. An analysis of system performance is provided. The results show that this code scheme may increase considerably the number of users and the types of services in the system with only linear degradation in performance. This scheme combined with FDMA and TDMA provides a means to integrate multimedia services.
