Abstract
In serial determinations carried out with six groups of rats aged up to 33 months that, up to the 30th month of life, the secretion of the neutral 17-ketosteroid (17-KS) was found to increase. The rise was characterized by two steeper sections. After the 30th month the secretion decreased. The lowest value was found in castrated animals, whereas the highest values were found in the 1st and 4th group, in pregnant females and in males carrying out the sexual function. The chromatographi-cally separated 17-KS fractions disclosed a similar variation occurring parallel to age. The highest values were recorded in the secretion of the [beta]-fraction. In the case of [beta]-fractions differences were found between the individual groups, similar to those observed for the total secretion of 17-KS, whereas one can suppose only the existence of a weak tendency in this direction for the a1- and a2-fractions.This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
