Observations on Food Acceptance by Elderly Women

Abstract
Foods consumed by aged women who were patients in nursing homes or residents of private homesgenerally provided two-thirds of the RDA. Calcium, which was consumed in less adequate levels by 53% of the women, was not statistically related to selected physical, social, and psychological factors. The composite of data which included information about preferences and changes in food patterns indicatedthat the food intake reflected established food patterns which varied with the background andexperiences of the individuals.
