Abstract
MARIJUANA smoking remains the most prevalent form of illicit drug use in the United States.1 Treatment seeking for marijuana dependence increased during the 1990s.2 Controlled trials3-5 evaluating treatments for marijuana dependence suggest that initiating and maintaining marijuana abstinence, like with other drug dependencies, is difficult. Whether an aversive withdrawal syndrome contributes to this difficulty is unclear. Keywords
