Abstract
Growth of Parthenium argentatum is greatly retarded by the feeding of L. hesperus. Feeding of the bugs on branch tips results in the collapse of the meristem and death of leaves up to 2-3 mm. in length. Below the meristem, injury is most severe in the phloem. The observations support the idea that in its feeding Lygus injects a toxic material into the host. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
