Abstract
A simplified form of the reactor kinetics equations is developed which is suitable for application of optimization techniques. The mechanization of the simplified reactor kinetics equations uses instruments already developed. Optimization techniques are applied to a desired start-up program of constant period followed by operation at constant power. The optimum controller which results is relatively simple, requiring two amplifiers with time varying gains. Numerical results are presented. Keywords
