Abstract
A spectrometer with cesium iodide optics has been built, and used to measure the ν5 bands of the normal and C13‐enriched cyanogen. By the use of molecular data, the thermodynamic functions of cyanogen were calculated. The bending frequencies and normal modes were calculated by a normal coordinate treatment. The absolute intensity of the ν5 band was measured and the derivative of dipole moment with respect to the symmetry coordinate was determined. On the assumption of independent rigid bond model the effective CN bond moment was calculated to be 1.2D.Keywords
