Abstract
A mixture of 5% sulfamylon and 200 U. per ml. of streptomycin prevented infection of exptl. crushed wounds in rabbits, but the mixture did not prevent infection in wounds treated 3 hrs. after infliction and contamination. This is explained by the probable inclusion of the bacteria within leukocytes. Surgical intervention should not be neglected when antibacterial agents are used clinically to prevent wound infection.
