Abstract
Mantled howling monkeys (Alouatta palliata Gray) were observed to drink from arboreal water sources during the wet season but not during the 5 month dry season. The lack of drinking in the dry season is attributed to seasonal differences in their activity patterns and food selection, the water content of the food, and the absence of plant secondary compounds in their dry season diet.
