Abstract
Nitrobenzene reacts with saturated alcohols in the presence of a catalytic amount of ruthenium complex at 180°C to give 2,3-dialkylquinolines and N-alkylanilines in good yields. The reaction appears to include reduction of nitrobenzene with the alcohols by hydrogen transfer reaction. Keywords
