Abstract
Microscopic examination of biopsy specimens of four patients with ichthyosis hystrix and one of nevus unius lateris showed a pattern characteristic of congenital ichthyosiform erythroderma. Based on these cases and on some evidence in the literature it is our belief that, in some instances, ichthyosis hystrix and, at times, nevus unius lateris are abortive forms of congenital ichthyosiform erythroderma. Keywords
