Abstract
The kinetics of isothermal growth from supersaturated solutions of composition in which the primary phase is orthoferrite is described. The film thickness increased as the square root of the growth time; the supersaturation decreased (aged) according to the Lifshitz–Slyozov theory of Ostwald ripening. The orthoferrite crystals were completely separated from the supersaturated solution at the growth temperature by a 45 mesh Pt screen for both the ’’dipping’’ and ’’tipping’’ methods. The orthoferrite was used as a source to replenish the solution in garnet constituents. The experimental data were taken on (100) (EuY)3Fe5012 films deposited on Sm3Ga5012 substrates.
