Abstract
The important role of epinephrine in the induction of hypoaminoacidemia prompted the investigation of the possible effect of various sympathomimetic amines, as substitutes for epinephrine, in producing an amino acid lowering. Rabbits were injd., subcut., with epinephrine, ephedrine, desoxyephedrine, arterenol, phenylethylamine, propadrine, neosynephrine or tuamine. The amino acid N levels of blood samples withdrawn from the ear 0.5-4 hrs. following injn. were compared to pre-injn. levels. Only ephinephrine produced hypoamino-acidemia.Keywords
