Aged Negroes: Their Cultural Departures from Statistical Stereotypes and Rural-Urban Differences

Abstract
Certain stereotypes commonly held about Negroes tend to be invalid when compared with available data on Negro aged, suggesting, therefore, the necessity of obtaining valid information when designing programs for Negro aged. More important, however, certain rural-urban differences found among a Georgia sample confirm further the necessity not to overlook the fact that aged Negroes constitute heterogeneous groupings. Thus, perhaps, programs ought not be planned for Negro aged as a category, but for groups of aged Negroes.
