Abstract
The authors would like to apologise for the use of an incorrect figure as Figure 1B of the above paper. Published below is the correct figure with its accompanying legend. It clearly illustrates that B.saltans does not contain a kinetoplast DNA disc, which is typical for trypanosomatids, but rather a more oval structure in a dilated region of the mitochondrion. This confirms earlier work by Brooker [Brooker,B.E. (1971) Bull. Brit. Museum [Nat. Hist.] 22, 89–102] and is in accordance with our observation that B.saltans, unlike trypanosomatid species, does not possess the typical kinetoplast DNA network of maxicircles and minicircles. Keywords
