Abstract
Eighty-nine children, too young to cooperate during special diagnostic procedures, were successfully managed by an unusually exacting technique. Prior to amnesia-analgesia induction, the anesthesiologist must elicit the degree of risk involved, especially during cardiac catheterization. The anesthesiologist himself should weight the patient and explain to the relatives what is to be done. After the diagnostic procedure is completed, the anesthesiologist should assume complete care of the child until he feels the parents or someone else can take over.
