Abstract
The intermetallic compound Na2LiAu3 could be synthesized from the elements at 20 kbar, 700 °C in a modified Belt-type apparatus. The structure (P63/mmc, a = 5.5302(9), c = 8.674(2) Å, c/a = 1.568, Z = 2) is a ternary variant of the MgZn2-type structure. As a consequence of the rather low c/a value the CN 12 and CN 16 polyhedra are considerably distorted. The shortest interatomic distances are Au– Li = 2.701 Å, Au– Au = 2.742 Å and Au–Na = 3.180 Å.Keywords
