Abstract
The iodination-accelerating effect of thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) is approximately proportional to the logarithmic concentration of TSH, though the dose-response ratio varies considerably from one thyroid gland to another. The TSH effect is counteracted by 0.003 M KCN, 10-4 M 2,4-dinitrophenol, 0.01 M ethylenediaminetetraacetate, 10-3 M KSCN, ascorbic acid, methylmercaptoimidazole, and dithiodiethyl-carbamate.
