Abstract
The deion flashover protector is a device intended for the protection of insulation such as used on transmission lines. In operation the lightning discharge passes through the device and the resulting power arc is extinguished without causing a system disturbance. Applications must be based on the surge flashover of the insulation to be protected, the system fault current, and the voltage at which that current must be interrupted. Keywords
