Abstract
The infrared spectrum of ethane‐1,1,1‐d 3 in the 4600–5100‐cm−1 and 5600–6300‐cm−1 regions was obtained. Of the eight band centers that were located, only the perpendicular bands ν 5 + ν 7 , at 5065.9 cm−1 and 2ν7, at 5945.5 cm−1, were sufficiently resolved to make a rotational analysis possible. From this analysis it was found that A′(2ν 7 ) = 1.834 cm −1 , A′(ν 5 + ν 7 ) = 1.787 cm −1 , ζ 2ντ = −0.264 , and ζ ν5 + ν7 = 0.170 . A comparison of the rotational constants of the 2ν 7 perpendicular band with likely values for these same constants determined from other bands indicates that the 2ν 7 band is strongly perturbed.Keywords
