Abstract
Lumbar puncture may cause intraspinal bleeding in a patient with a clotting defect (leukemia, hemophilia, thrombocytopenia) or receiving anticoagulant therapy. Such bleeding may result in paraplegia. Needle aspiration of the clot or laminectomy may or may not be beneficial. If a patient who is to receive anticoagulant drugs requires a lumbar puncture, the tap should be done before anticoagulants are given. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
