CXLVI. An X-Ray examination of anα(Al-Fe-Si)ternary compound

Abstract
The unit cell of an α-phase in the Al-Fe-Si system is found to be hexagonal with a 0=12·3 åA and c 0=26·2 Å, and differs from the cells previously reported for other phases of closely similar composition. The most prominent Brillouin Zone associated with the structure of this compound is compared with that of one of these other phases with special reference to the possible ‘effective valency’ of transitional metal atoms in electron-rich environments.
