Abstract
The equation of state for the critical region of simple fluids proposed by Verbeke et al. is, with other options for the parameters, applied to methane and argon. The data on methane reported by Jansoone et al. are reanalyzed with this equation. In order to apply the equation in the critical region of argon the data of Verbeke et al. are utilized and expanded with additional new data. It is demonstrated that the proposed equation can be useful in the further investigation of the equation of state in the critical region of simple fluids. Keywords
