Abstract
An analysis of isobaric analogue resonances is performed to yield the Coulomb displacement energies. The resonances are produced in proton reactions on heavy nuclei. A discussion of the corrections to the resonance data is included. The Coulomb displacement energies can be fitted using the formula: , where is found to be -1.032±0.056 MeV, and is 1.448±0.006 MeV. There is no evidence for shell, deformation, or pairing effects within the accuracy of this analysis; however, the effects that one would expect to find due to deformations are of the order of the errors in the experiment. The parameters obtained are compared with other measurements of Coulomb displacement energies.
