Abstract
A 3 gene hypothesis for necrosis, which occurs in certain wheat hybrids, was disproven. Chinese Spring carries a single complementary gene, Ch2 for chlorosis on chromosome 3D; Macha carries a necrosis gene, Nei, and a chlorosis gene, Chi, but it does not possess the other necrosis gene, Ne2. Necrosis and chlorosis are probably under the control of 2 independent gene systems, each consisting of 2 complementary genes; necrosis is determined by Nex and Ne2, and chlorosis by Ch1 and Ch2.This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
