The author has reviewed the literature in the area of jaw and facial fractures in the pediatric patient. There are differences in incidence and treatment between the pediatric and adult patient. A review of the treatment principles for pediatric patient management is provided. Special attention is devoted to the use of "stock" trough splints in the treatment of mandibular fractures.
