Abstract
The 4880 AA lines of an argon ion laser give simultaneous excitation of several lines of the indigo system of the AgBi molecule. The spectrum of this system is not resolved and does not allow a classical rotational analysis to be made. A general graphical method for the vibrational assignment of the resulting lines is described. The determination of the rotational constants of the lower state from the observed lines only is discussed. It is shown that the use of the wavenumbers of the band heads gives the rotational constants of the upper state. Keywords
