Abstract
Magneto-optical mode conversion was achieved in a waveguide of diluted magnetic semiconductor grown on GaAs substrate. Mode conversion ratio up to 34% under a magnetic field of 5.5 kG was obtained. waveguide showed low optical loss, 4 dB/cm, and high magneto-optical figure-of-merit, 15 deg/dB/kG at This result shows the feasibility of monolithical integration of an optical isolator with semiconductor optoelectronic devices.
