A Traumatic Experience

Abstract
A 41-year-old woman collapsed at home and was taken to the hospital. In the emergency room, her blood pressure was 130/78 mm Hg, and her temperature was 36.5°C. No arrhythmia, murmur, or bruits were detected on cardiovascular examination. She was aphasic and had a left hemiparesis involving the face, arm, and leg.The case presented is of a young woman who was brought to the emergency room with a persistent neurologic deficit that is most consistent with stroke. I would like to know her history at this point, particularly whether she smoked or used medications, including oral contraceptives . . .
