Abstract
Brillouin scattering experiments have revealed a new structural phase transition in PrAl at 118 K, in which strain is the sole order parameter. This fact, together with the second-order nature of the transition, suggests that it belongs to a class of structural transitions first delineated nearly ten years ago by Anderson and Blount.
