Abstract
Haemoproteus sacharovi was found in blood smears of a few squabs raised in Iowa during the summers of 1952 and 1953. A heavy infection of Plasmodium relictum was noted in a squab in Sept., 1954. A total of 221 colony and barn pigeons examined in 1955 did not have microscopically demonstrable haematozoa. By the method of iso-diagnosis, however, it was possible to detect P. relictum in 3 of 39 adult pigeons whose blood was microscopically negative. The reliability of isodiagnosis is discussed. Keywords
