Abstract
We review the basic principles of optical heterodyne detection with particular reference to applications in photoacoustic and photothermal imaging. A novel scheme is described which utilises an optical heterodyne probe to detect current in thin film circuits in a non-contacting fashion. Recent experimental and theoretical results are presentedKeywords
