Abstract
The non‐verbal communication of eleven aphasic patients was investigated within a dyadic communication framework. Results were then compared with those of standardised aphasia measures. Appropriateness and functions of the non‐verbal behaviours were found to differ among patients and to correlate poorly with other test measures. Case examples are provided and neurological and clinical implications are discussed. Keywords
