Assessment of Drug Therapy in Chronic Brain Failure

Abstract
An arteriosclerosis score was devised in an attempt to differentiate between vascular and ideopathic chronic brain failure. The score correlated closely with the ADL [activity of daily living] score, but not with SQ [mental status questionnaire] score, nor with a battery of psychological tests. There are close intercorrelations between certain psychological tests and the MSQ. A series of tests, their correlations with each other in a group of elderly people, difficulties in their administration and the practical problems inherent in assessing drugs [Piracetum] intended to be used in the prevention or treatment of brain failure are described.
