Abstract
Summary: High concentrations of hydrocortisone effectively abolish the lysis of various mammalian cells induced by cytotoxic antibody and complement in vitro. This protective action appears to be exerted at the surface of cells. These findings, in connection with similar findings of Fell and Weiss have led to the suggestion of a dual action of cytotoxic antibody; the significance of this suggestion is discussed in relation to the role of antibody-mediated tissue damage in vitro and in vivo. This publication has 5 references indexed in Scilit:
