Abstract
A new absorption band consisting of two components is found in additively colored CsBr crystals doped with ions. It is suggested that the corresponding color center, called , consists of an center adjacent to a ion. Dichroic bleaching properties are described. The luminescence is characterized by a single Gaussian emission band, peaking at 1.5 eV and with a half-width of 0.17 eV. The temperature dependence of the emission is different for the two components of the excitation spectrum.
