Hermaphrodites in a Puerto Rican Strain of Schistosoma mansoni

Abstract
Of a group of 35 male S. monsoni, 13 specimens possess female sex organs in various stages of completeness. Ovaries, oviducts, ootypes, Mehlis'' glands, uteri, vitelline ducts and vitellaria are present in these worms, but no specimen has a fully-developed or typical set of female organs. No eggs were found in the uteri or ootypes. Age and host are not known.Keywords
