Abstract
A nomen nudum, Rhantus schauinslandi listed by J. D. Alfken (1903), but attributed by him to M. A. Regimbart, is applied as originally intended, to a species known only from the Chatham Islands of New Zealand. Types are designated and a description furnished together with a comparison with R. vitiensis, J. Balfour-Browne, from Fiji, to which it is closely allied. No justification is found for the varietal name chathamicus listed by Alfken for the Chatham Island population of Rhantus pulverosus (Stephens). Keywords
