Abstract
The elastic-scattering cross section of electrons by atomic nitrogen in its ground state is calculated by a 'linear algebraic method'. Eight target states are included in the electron-atom wavefunction expansion, with target orbitals determined with a scaled Thomas-Fermi potential. This approximation is found to give no low-energy resonances, in agreement with the work of Berrington et al. (1975).Keywords
