Abstract
Action planning has been an important theme in many recent policy initiatives in the education and training field. In principle, the notion that individuals should be encouraged to develop action plans for their future seems straightforward. In practice, however, it raises many complex issues. A number of these issues are identified and explored, based on an evaluation of a Youth Development Project in Essex. Keywords
