Abstract
We show in a unified model that the shift and width of the ultraviolet absorption line shapes in liquid helium are related to the integrated Raman-scattering cross sections. This relation is used to estimate the magnitude of the integrated -wave scattering by use of the observed ultraviolet spectrum. We find The model gives standard results for -wave scattering. We discuss some other possible uses of the model.
