Abstract
Broadband (turbulent) and narrowband noises are defined, and examples are given. The limitations of passive noise control techniques (good design, absorption) are noted, and active noise cancellation, using anti-noise (a copy of the noise used to cancel the original), is discussed. An active muffler system applied to an engine's exhaust is presented as an example. Keywords
