The design and implementation of computerized nursing care plans is described, together with the rationale for the systems approach. The project was developed at LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City, utilizing HELP, a total hospital information system. Implementation of the program was initiated in six critical care units (52 beds) where nursing personnel have been actively using computer interface for more than ten years. Keywords
