Abstract
Deutsch and Jones (1960) have reported that rats select water in preference to hypotonic or isotonic NaCl solutions in a T maze. 2 experiments were performed testing the consistency and generality of this effect in discrete trial situations. It was found that water is more reinforcing than an equal volume of hypotonic saline both in a 2-choice situation and in an alley. The relationship between these results and those reported by other investigators is discussed. This publication has 3 references indexed in Scilit:
