Abstract
Two analyses of plunging phenomena in reservoirs are presented, one based upon a simple energy conserving flow and the other upon a gradually varied two-layer system. The various types of interfacial profiles are described and the depth at the plunge point is determined. The predicted plunge depth agrees reasonably well with the laboratory measurements of SINGH and SHAH (1971).Keywords
