Abstract
Phenylacetylene is stereoselectively brominated by molecular bromine adsorbed on graphite in carbon tetrachloride, to produce E-α-β-dibromostyrene; isomerisation of the E-isomer to the Z-isomer, usually catalysed by bromine, is inhibited by graphite. Keywords
