Abstract
We have developed simple analytical expressions for the ionization cross-section and for the LET of a .beta. ray in excellent agreement with available data on differential and integrated ionization cross-sections, experimental LET, and range data. These expressions are then integrated in the spirit of the continuous slowing down approximation to obtain the energy distributions of the ionizations along the main track and on the resulting .delta. rays down to the fourth generation. They reproduce surprisingly accurate data on LET and recent data on energy per ion pair over the entire energy range available. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
