Abstract
Embryonated eggs infected with the PR8 strain of influenza virus, Type A, showed a rapid increase in amount of virus in the chorio-allantoic membrane and allantoic fluid. A max. titer waa attained in 24-48 hours. Lesser amts. were present in the amniotic fluid, embryo and yolk sac. Allantoic fluid stored at 37[degree] C retained its infectivity for a period only of days. The hemagglutinating activity remained unchanged and the immunizing potency was diminished during a period of 6 months at 37[degree] C. The hemagglutinating and immunizing activities were no better conserved in frozen and dried allantoic fluid than in material stored in the fluid state at the same temp.
